Future Home - Under Construction

Welcome! I'm Ed and thank you for visting my website. It's still under construction and it is not finished (the menu links are disabled until I've completed those sections) - if you are here, it's probably because I told you about it and gave you the address.

This website is not supposed to be a secret, it's just not complete. If you know of anyone that would benefit from use of this site, feel free to share the address. I'm also at the very early stages of building up the community social media pages... there is an overall plan for everything, but it will just take some time to complete.

Worksheet Demo

If I told you about a dynamic (custom) worksheet, I was probably talking about the "Mad Mathematics Table" - a customizable math facts table on an easily printed woksheet. Use it in your class or print it off at home to force your kids to practice their math facts.

Please keep in mind this is a work in progress.

Mad in 60 Seconds Demo

Did I tell you about a simple math facts game? This project was the result of me wanting my kids to practice their math facts, and I wanted something simple and scalable.

Do we really need another math website?

There are plenty of sites out there: some are homegrown do-gooders, while others are the result of copycat venture capitalists who see something cool and want to make an extreme overhead on. There are also sites sponsored by higher ed: I love the work Jo Boaler is doing over at youCubed and if you've never seen it, go check it out. I'm going to try and fill a small niche with the goals of my website being to provide ad hoc tools that require little to no user-sign-in-ness. Something where a teacher can grab a url, or embed code for an LMS - all from the same domain so IT can just whitelist one domain and you're all good... I'm not trying to do my own Khan Academy, which I used in my own classroom and recommend1, but rather provide simple tools, like a worksheet generator - that prints out really easy.

There's room for one more, at least until some venture capitalist comes knocking with a cease and desist order.

If you are looking for a one-stop-shop for all your mathematics education needs, it doesn't exist. I can offer you some simple tools and previously used materials. All packaged up for easy distribution and integration with no need for privacy disclaimers or cookie permissions, becuase I am finger-jambing each character for each line of code in Notepad++ and know exactly what information my page is grabbing from you. Feel free to check the site out in dev-tools and admire the lack of cookies and local variables... I don't and won't be using google analytics.

Future Projects

Currently I am in the process of updating a lot of my previous teaching materials and going over them with a fine tooth comb. Once completed, I will offer most of my materials for free - but will hold back some materials behind a small but reasonable pay wall. The physical site costs me about $200 a year to keep the domain and webserver going. I fully intend to publish and be transparent about any and all money coming to me and what I spend on the website... just want you to know I'm just one guy, there is no corporate sponsor or special interest group trying to indoctrinate your students.
